A multi-media adventure story about Haiti, determination and the power of friendship that transcends borders.
Iron Will is a original Scene Change stageplay inspired by true stories from Haiti. It’s like taking a 2-hour trip to Haiti except you don’t need a passport and you get to sleep in your own bed after it’s over.
Iron Will was written by Lance and Peggy Wright in association with partners who live in Haiti or frequently visit Haiti. The premiere was June 14, 2010 at Hamilton Place. The talented cast includes members of the Haitan Association of Hamilton and actors, singers and dancers from southern Ontario.
The story starts in an economics class at a Canadian university. A small group of students raises money for micro-credit (small development loans) in Haiti then finds an unusual opportunity to meet the people of a rural village of Haiti. Through a series of misadventures, they discover the joyful resilience of the Haitians and return to Canada with new perspective and friendship.
